F-series PLCs

Think of the new F-series PLCs as Super-charged T100M+ PLCs!

They incorporate a built-in Ethernet port that supports the industry standard MODBUS/TCP protocol, are capable of driving stepper motors DIRECTLY, have a built-in battery-backed Real Time Clock, and support 3 serial ports and 3 HSCs. Their CPUs run five times Faster, they have more program and data memory and plenty of other improvements over the T100M+. More importantly, they are still programmed by the industry-proven Ladder+BASIC, i-TRiLOGI software that has been used for programming thousands T100MD+/MX+ applications for more than 10 years.

Two new exciting PLC models are now available. The F1616-BA PLC is especially suitable for controlling new "Smart Buildings" that embrace Green Technology, with its 24VAC or DC opto-isolated/relay I/Os, 0-10V analog I/Os and full suite of communication capabilities. The F2424 PLC includes all solid state outputs that enable it to drive up to 3 stepper motor motors directly.

	The F1616-BA (BA=Building Automation) Super PLC is the ideal choice for smart buildings control and energy management. Its built-in 32 digital I/Os (expandable to 256) interface directly to 24VAC or DC power, with 8 analog inputs and 4 analog outputs that are 0 to 10V range (with direct thermistors connection!). As a member of the F-series Super PLCs it posseses the same incredible amount of built-in capabilities such as PWM output, stepper motor control, Encoder and pulse measurement inputs etc.


	The F1616-BA's immense communication capability allows it to be used as the brain of a small BAS, or as one of the "Super DDC " controllers in a Distributed Control System (DCS). The Ethernet port on the F1616-BA PLC hosts both a PLC server and a Modbus/TCP server, allowing up to 6 simultaneous connections with devices such as touch panel/HMI or Supervisory computers. The controller is accessible via the Internet and able to send emails to report real time events. It's RS232 port and two RS485 ports all support MODBUS. A special set of interface pins is even provided on the PLC to allow addition of a third-party radio module known as XBEE which in turn enables this controller to interface to futuristic ZIGBEE wireless sensors and control modules.

Both the F2424 and F1616-BA PLC are expandable to 128 Digital Inputs and 128 Digital Outputs using expansion board EXP1616R or EXP4040. You can also connect many of the same peripherals for the T100MD+/MX+ series to these two PLCs.

	The F2424 PLC is possibly THE PLC that you have always wanted! No other PLCs on the market today come with built-in capabilities anywhere near it. Yet it is much more cost effective compared to other makes of PLCs on the market today.

New Modbus/TCP Gateway Feature (Only on Super PLC models with r77 or higher Firmware)

With r77 firmware or higher, any Nano-10, FMD series, or F-series PLC can now be configured as a Modbus TCP gateway. This is of course particularly useful in PLC set-ups where most of the PLCs need Ethernet link-up into broader networks but as in most cases, are equipped only with traditional and standard serial communication ports (such as RS232 and RS485).

Once configured as a gateway, the PLC will be able to receive Modbus TCP commands from a client device or software (from the LAN or Internet) and transparently convert them to Modbus RTU (serial) and send them out of the COM port that was configured. The PLC will only convert and redirect Modbus TCP commands if the specified ID is different from the Gateway PLCs ID.

If the incoming Modbus TCP command is addressed to the Gateway PLC, then it will accept and process the command as per normal.

If the incoming Modbus TCP command has an ID that is different from the Gateway PLC, then it will do the following automatically and transparently:

1. Convert the command to Modbus RTU (serial)
2. Send it out of the COM port that was configured to the specified device ID.
3. Wait for a response and, once received, convert it from Modbus RTU back to Modbus TCP.
4. Send the response in Modbus TCP format back to the client that sent the command originally.
